Building Confidence Through Experience

Some things are easier to learn outside a classroom

Physical activity, outdoor learning and therapeutic sessions with animals all support emotional regulation, mental wellbeing and engagement in education. For a young person who has found school difficult, this is often where progress becomes visible first.

Activities are adapted to individual abilities and confidence levels. Nobody is asked to do something they are not ready for, and starting small is a perfectly good place to start.

What this covers

Three strands, one personalised programme

Each strand can be drawn on as much or as little as a young person's plan calls for.

Sport, Gym & Physical Development

Boxing and kickboxing, gym and fitness training, football, tennis and padel, and team games, delivered alongside experienced coaches and mentors.

Therapeutic Equine Sessions

Working alongside horses to build trust, communication and emotional awareness. Particularly beneficial for young people experiencing anxiety, low self esteem, or difficulty forming positive relationships.

Bushcraft & Outdoor Learning

Shelter building, fire lighting and outdoor cooking where appropriate, navigation and map reading, team building challenges, and environmental awareness and conservation.

Sport, gym and physical development

The strand most young people meet first

Sessions run from boxing and kickboxing to gym and fitness training, football, tennis and padel, and team games, all adapted to individual abilities and confidence levels and delivered alongside experienced coaches and mentors.

Physical activity supports emotional regulation, mental wellbeing and engagement in education, and it does that without asking a young person to sit still and talk about how they feel.

What sessions include

  • Boxing and kickboxing
  • Gym and fitness training
  • Football
  • Tennis and padel
  • Team games and personal fitness activities

Whole person development

What all three strands are really building

Whatever the activity, the same qualities are being developed underneath it, and they are the qualities that make the rest of a programme possible.

  • Confidence and self esteem
  • Emotional regulation and resilience
  • Teamwork and communication
  • Leadership and responsibility
  • Respect for themselves and others
  • Healthy lifestyle choices and personal wellbeing
