Private Tuition

Home Tuition

One to one tuition in the place a student already knows and trusts. A tutor comes to you, works to a plan built around one person, and adjusts it as that person changes.

Tutors available for home tuition

Profiles are managed in our booking system, so what you see here is always current. Approved tutor profiles from our booking system appear below. Because home tuition is delivered in person, use the location options to narrow the list to tutors who can travel to you.

Teaching that comes to the kitchen table

For some students the hardest part of a lesson is the journey to it. Home tuition removes that entirely. The tutor arrives, the student is already somewhere they feel safe, and the session can start with learning rather than with recovery.

Sessions are one to one. That means no waiting for the rest of a group, no pretending to understand something in front of other people, and no moving on before a student is ready. The plan belongs to the student and it changes as they do.

Home tuition sits inside our Private Tuition work, which families arrange with us directly. It is a separate route from commissioned Alternative Provision, although the two can sit alongside each other where a Local Authority or school has asked for that.

At a glance

  • One to one, in the student's own home
  • Ages 5 to 18
  • Primary, secondary and post-16 stages
  • A plan written for one student, reviewed as they progress
  • Arranged directly with your family
  • Carefully selected staff with enhanced DBS Certification
  • Continuous professional development to ensure the highest level and quality of teaching and support

Travel, availability and subject coverage vary by area. The quickest way to find out what is possible where you live is to ask.

Who home tuition tends to suit

There is no single reason families come to us. These are the situations we are asked about most often.

  • A student who is falling behind in one subject and losing confidence in all of them
  • A student preparing for GCSEs or post-16 study who needs focused, regular support
  • A student who finds a busy classroom difficult and works better without an audience
  • A student who has been out of school for a period and needs a steady way back
  • A family who would rather not add another journey to the week

Coverage

Stages we support

Tell us the subject and the stage. If we cannot match it well we will say so rather than take the booking.

Primary

Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2

Reading, writing and communication, number and problem solving, and the confidence to have a go at something without being certain of the answer.

Secondary

Key Stage 3 and GCSE

Core subject support, exam technique and revision structure, alongside the organisational habits that make revision possible in the first place.

Post-16

A level and further study

Subject support for advanced study, plus preparation for the independence that college, an apprenticeship or employment will expect.

How Matching Works

Finding the right tutor

A tutor who knows the subject is the minimum. The match that actually works is the one the student is willing to keep turning up for.

01

You tell us the situation

Subject, stage, where you are, and what has been getting in the way. This part matters more than most people expect.

02

We look at who is available near you

Home tuition depends on a tutor being able to travel to you at a workable time, so location and availability are part of the match, not an afterthought.

03

We propose a tutor

We match on subject and stage, and on the kind of person the student is likely to respond to. Those two things are not the same.

04

You start, and we review

The plan is reviewed as the student progresses. If the match is not working, tell us early and we will change it.

What learning at home changes

The setting is not a detail. It changes what a student is willing to attempt.

  • No travel, so a bad journey cannot end a session before it starts
  • A familiar room, which lowers the cost of being wrong out loud
  • Full attention for the whole session, every session
  • Parents and carers close by, and easy to update afterwards
  • Session times that fit around the rest of the week

What happens after you get in touch

Nothing is committed at the first conversation. We ask what has been happening, what has already been tried, and what would count as things going well. Then we tell you honestly whether we are the right fit and what we could offer.

If it is a fit, we agree a starting point, a tutor and a rhythm of sessions. If it is not, we will say so.

Would tuition at home help?

Tell us about the student and we will tell you what we can realistically offer, and when. If home tuition is not the right answer we will point you somewhere that is.
