Private Tuition
Online Tuition
The same personalised teaching, delivered wherever there is a reliable connection. Useful when travel is difficult, when the right subject specialist is not local, or when a student simply concentrates better at their own desk.

Private Tuition
Learning that fits around the rest of life
Online tuition removes the two things that most often stop a session happening: the journey, and the search for a tutor who happens to live nearby. What is left is one tutor, one student, and an hour that belongs entirely to the student.
It sits alongside home tuition and our Stevenage centre as one of three ways to arrange private tuition with us directly.
Reach
A tutor who suits the student matters more than a tutor who lives twenty minutes away.
Rhythm
Sessions that survive a busy term are the ones that were easy to keep in the first place.
Inside an online session
An online lesson is not a video of someone teaching. It is a live, two way session in which the student is expected to do most of the work.
- Live one to one teaching, not a recording
- A shared workspace so the tutor can see the working, not just the answer
- Work set, marked and talked through with the student
- The same tutor each week, so nothing has to be explained twice
- Short, focused sessions rather than long ones nobody finishes

Coverage
Subjects and stages
Tell us the subject and the stage you need. If we cannot match it properly we will say so rather than take the booking.

Reading, writing and communication, number work and problem solving, taught in short sessions that hold attention rather than test it. Lessons are planned so a younger student finishes with something they can show someone.
Online works well at this age when a parent or carer is nearby at the start and the end of the session.
Key Stage 3 and GCSE support: filling gaps that have quietly opened up, building exam technique, and turning revision from an intention into a routine.
This is the stage we are asked about most. It is also the stage where a learner is most likely to have decided they are bad at a subject, which is usually the first thing worth undoing.
Support for A level and other advanced study, alongside the independent working habits that college, an apprenticeship or employment will assume are already there.
Sessions at this stage are often led by the learner: they bring the problem, and the tutor works through it with them.
Practicalities
Setting up for online lessons
Nothing specialised, and nothing to buy.
What you need
- A device with a camera and microphone: a laptop or tablet is easiest
- A reasonably stable internet connection
- A quiet spot where the student will not be interrupted
- Paper and a pen, which still beat a touchscreen for working out
What we ask
- Log in a few minutes early so the session starts on time
- Let us know in good time if a session needs to move
- Have last week's work to hand, even if it is unfinished
- Tell us early if the match is not working, so we can change it

Confidence, progress and staying informed
Students who have had a difficult time in a classroom often speak up online before they will speak up in a room. There is no audience, and being wrong costs nothing. That is frequently where confidence starts to come back.
Progress is reviewed as the student moves, and parents and carers are kept in the picture. You should never have to guess how it is going.
